Increasing of the number of PCT filings

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) is the well-known system allowing to file a single patent application for a considerable number of states and to postpone the local prosecutions by up to at least 30 months from the priority date enjoyed by the application.
International patent filings under PCT increased by 4.8% in 2010, with strong growth from China (+56.2%), the Republic of Korea (+20.5%), and Japan (+7.9%).
France ranks in 6th position, behind the United States, Japan, Germany, China and the Republic of Korea, but ahead of UK, Canada and India.
